What a wonderful Sunday to have a one-day trip in Keelung( 基隆 ). First, we went to 榮興 seafood restaurant, which is reported to offer good value for your money and you can’t make a reservation before. When we arrived, the owner asked us to wait 1.5 hours. Amazing! I thought we already kept away from the peak hours. We didn’t want to waste our time, so we endured our hunger and visited the National Museum of Marine Science and Technology (NMMST).

People think two ways about this museum, someone think that it’s worthy to stay for a half day, though other people don’t think so. Now I’m here to figure out why people have such different feelings. In my opinion, the exhibitions in NMMST, besides children area, are suitable for junior high school students. They make a lot of models to explain physical theories and earth sciences. To be honest, even I can’t totally understand everything, and maybe that’s one reason why they will think it is a boring museum. Furthermore, people might feel depressed because they can’t see any “real” fish in this museum. But I have to say some words, the Chinese abbreviation of National Museum of Marine Science and Technology is similar with National Museum of Marine Biology and Aquarium, so people might have mistaken them. Once you realize, you can find out it tries to tell you a lot of stories, including history, ship structure, a little bit of biology and so on.

Oh! It’s time to talk about our lunch. After half an hour, we got the phone call from the restaurant. We rushed to the restaurant as soon as possible. The owner is really funny, contrary to his look. We followed a blogger’s article to order our meals, but some of them are not in season or not offered anymore. The owner asked, ”why do so many people want to order ocean sunfish( 翻車魚 ) and Majoidea( 蜘蛛蟹 ), today?” ”which blog are you reading?” When I watch narrowly that was an article written in 2009, no wonder. =P

Finally we ordered these:

1.Fresh Aristeus virilis ( 胭脂蝦 )

The way to peel the shrimps can be searched on YOUTUBE. First, peel the shell which connects with the head. Second, shake the shrimp’s body gently(not your body, thanks), then you can take the whole shell out. Finally, enjoy your shrimp with or without soy sauce and wasabi.

2.Fried female crabs ( 黃金蟹母 )

Actually I’m not good at eating crabs so I have to say this meal is HARD to eat. But I like the taste. If you don’t mind getting your hands messy, you should try this.

3.  Fired cuttlefish ( 炒透抽 )

4.Miso soup with lobster  ( 戰車味噌湯 )

The source of seafood in 榮興 restaurant are really fresh, so you could taste the natural flavor and without complex cooking. After this BIG lunch I really need to run back to home to burn the calories.><

In the end of the day, we went to Port Keelung to visit LOGOS HOPE, the biggest oversea bookstore, which will stay in Port Keelung from 23 Aug to 9 Sup 2014. There are hundreds of OMers that are sent from and supported by their local church who will receive people who board the ship and also will do some activities for public good. There are thousands of kinds of books including language, science, art, sport, cooking and so on. It costs 20 NTD for boarding and the price of books are affordable, not only for cheaper English books but also for the exhibitions about Bible stories and AIDS are worthy to visit.
